Quick Mount PV buys Walnut Creek

Quick Mount PV is moving its headquarters to Walnut Creek. The company, a maker of solar panel mounting systems, paid $7.5 million or about $56 per square foot for 133,602-square-foot property at 2700 Mitchell Drive in the Shadelands area of Walnut Creek.
The property includes two buildings measuring 89,900 square feet and 43,702 square feet, on 12 acres. Quick, which started in Emeryville in 2006, plans to move into the larger building in early 2012 and sublease the other building. Both sides of the deal were represented by Cornish & Carey Newmark Knight Frank Commercial. “This property is an ideal place for our low-tech light manufacturing facility and fits into our five-year growth plan,” said Claudia Wentworth, the company’s CEO. “We have enough space to not only expand significantly in the months and years ahead, but to do so in a planned, intelligent way that will facilitate our growth.”
This the third move for Quick Mount, which left Emeryville for Concord in 2008. In Concord, the firm grew from a 5,000 square foot office to 30,000 square feet and now needs even more room to expand.
Quick Mount has 37 employees and plans to hire an additional 20 in the months ahead. “We are proud to bring jobs in green manufacturing to Contra Costa County,” Wentworth said. “Our next efforts will be towards ‘greening’ the larger older building through energy efficiencies and demand-side management. This will not only decrease our manufacturing costs, but also the buildings carbon footprint.”
The firm financed the deal with a U.S. Small Business Administration 504 loan arranged my TMC.
